Coaches can nominate athletes for the MLive sports poll. This list does not guarantee MLive coverage, but is used to highlight the achievements of Muskegon-area winter sports athletes. A senior standout for the Lakers scored back-to-back hat tricks in back-to-back games against Cedar Springs and Western Michigan Christian, opening the 2022 season with a pair of wins.
Muskegon-area athletes of the week are now open for voting
If you are a fan of spring sports, you can vote for the best athlete in the area by casting your vote in the MLive Muskegon Chronicle’s athlete of the week poll. This poll, which will be open until 9 a.m. Friday, is based on competitions that took place between April 19 and 24. You can vote for more than one athlete by using two keywords to narrow your results.
There are more than 16 nominees in this year’s Muskegon-area athletes of the week poll. Fans can cast their votes for up to three candidates, including the top two players in each sport. The poll is open to MLive readers, and will be closed at noon on Nov. 5. The deadline for voting is Friday, Nov. 5, so act quickly. Vote now!
High school sports in Michigan had a busy start to the year. After two years of bad weather, some competitions were postponed or canceled, and some midseason form was in full effect.
